ILT Project Learner Session Update

After a briefing in the art room and the opportunity for the level 3 learners to photograph the paintings chosen for the exhibition, we made our way to the IT suite at Brighouse where the session was due to take place.
The learners had expressed a desire in the first session to use photographic images of their paintings to create publicity material for the exhibition using publisher. I had previously prepared a handout, detailing the necessary steps to creating a page of 4 postcard sized invites. I had also prepared a pack for each learner containing a selection of useful handouts, courtesy of Karen, explaining how to transfer images from the camera to the PC, how to create a newsletter etc.
The one drawback to the whole operation was that the learners had to work on laptops in 4 groups of 3 because the PC's haven't had Publisher installed, this slowed things down a lot because all the learners found it much more difficult(I must admit to finding laptops so much harder to type on myself).
I went through the process step by step on my laptop which was connected to the smartboard. The learners followed the handouts and out of the 4 groups, 2 of them successfully completed the procedure. The invites were then printed out, cut up and distributed(example invite on previous post). One of the learners took details of all the paintings in the exhibition, typed them up at home, emailed them to me and I then used that information along with information and a photograph provided by shewhobakes to create price lists for the show. I asked the learners for their feedback on the session which is in my ILT folder. A useful session for the learners as they realised the potential for creating publicity materials and greetings cards from their original art.
